The project, which is expected to undergo environmental review starting in July, and slated to begin construction in 2009, would power 44,000 homes on Long Island. The WITNESS is the only U.S.-based Greenpeace vessel, and its arrival in Sag Harbor is its first public appearance. Greenpeace and local environmental experts will be on-hand to discuss the importance of this investment in Long Island’s clean energy future, and the need for similar projects all across the country.
